Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart.  ~William Wordsworth

Well, here we are. Welcome to the strange little world inside my head.

As far as I can remember, I’ve always wanted to write. Back in the late 80’s, when I was a middle school kid, I was writing fanfiction before fanfiction exploded in popularity. To spare myself international embarrassment, I’ll refrain from saying what I was a fan of here. Point being, I was writing at an age when it was unpopular to read prolifically, let alone write my own stories that weren’t being required of me by my English teacher. I'm rather proud of that fact, actually.

My main focus in writing is sci-fi/fantasy. It's much more satisfying to me than writing either non-fiction, or fiction based on modern-day life. I love the freedom of it. I love the ability to say "This is the way this world works," rather than being constrained by silly things like, "Oh, you can't write that your character does that. The world doesn't work that way." And yet, when I do fan-fiction that touches slightly on the real world, like my Doctor Who fanfics, I still have the challenge of doing my research to make sure I'm not completely off the mark. Still, with the nature of sci-fi and fantasy, I can bend the rules a bit.

Everyone dreams of getting paid to do what they love to do. I love writing. Maybe one day all this practice I get from entertaining the little muse in my head that smacks me around like a dominatrix if I don't write as much as she wants me to will make it possible for me to live that dream.

Ah well, maybe someday.
